In the amendment of the Vehicle Regulations, a section 4 has been added to the ‘Danger signalling device’ V16 signal, with the following content: ‘4. Optionally, and in addition, an auto-yellow light device with the following characteristics may be placed on the outside of the stationary vehicle: 1. Irradiation: The optical system will be designed so that the light covers a horizontal field of visibility of 360 degrees and vertically, a minimum ± 8 degrees up and down. 2. Light intensity: The intensity must be at degree 0, between 40 and 80 candelas, for at least 30 minutes. 3. Power supply: Autonomous through a battery or rechargeable battery that conserves a minimum of 90% of its nominal capacity after 18 months of being installed in the device. 4. IP protection: Must be at least IP54. 5. Stability: The equipment will be designed to remain stable on a flat surface so that it doesn’t move in an air current that exerts a dynamic pressure of 180 Pa, in the most unfavourable direction for its stability. 6. Flash frequency: Between 0.8 and 2 Hz. 7. The light must be guaranteed to work in temperatures between -10 °C and 50 °C. 8. Tests: The verification of the compliance with the characteristics defined in paragraphs a) to g) above will be conducted in an accredited laboratory in accordance with the UNE EN-ISO 17025 standard by the National Accreditation Entity (or by any other National Accreditation Body designated by another Member State in accordance with EC Regulation No 765/2008 and under the conditions established in Article 11 of said Regulation) for UNECE Regulation 65. If the tests are satisfactory, the laboratory will issue a certificate to that effect, indicating the marks that identify it on the lens of the device.’
